Kevin Lu

Dr. Kevin Lu, M.D., is a distinguished uro-oncologist, kidney transplant surgeon, and clinical investigator with more than two decades of expertise spanning urological oncology, transplantation immunology, and evidence-based medicine. A graduate of National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan (M.D., 1996), Dr. Lu completed his surgical and urology residency at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, where he cultivated a lifelong dedication to improving outcomes for patients with urological malignancies and end-stage renal disease. He further advanced his expertise through a fellowship in kidney transplantation at Tokyo Women’s Medical University under the mentorship of Professor Kazunari Tanebe, focusing on complex immunological challenges in ABO-incompatible and highly sensitized recipients. Throughout his career, Dr. Lu has held key academic and clinical appointments, including Chief of the Institute of Urology at Asia University Hospital, Deputy Secretary-General of the Taiwan Urological Association, and current attending urologist at Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital. He has been actively involved in international guideline development, serving as a panelist for the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s guideline on germline and somatic genomic testing in advanced prostate cancer. Dr. Lu’s research integrates clinical trials, molecular epidemiology, and data science to optimize treatment decision-making, risk stratification, and long-term patient outcomes in uro-oncology and renal transplantation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributed to multi-center studies addressing cancer biology, transplant immunology, and health disparities in kidney transplantation. Committed to advancing practice-oriented medicine, Dr. Lu bridges translational research and clinical application, striving to deliver precision therapies guided by robust evidence. His lifelong mission is to improve survival, quality of life, and treatment equity for patients worldwide, while mentoring the next generation of clinicians and researchers dedicated to compassionate, science-driven care.
