Dr Kan obtained the fellowship in Urology from the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and was awarded the CH Leong Medal & Scholarship. He was elected distinguished young fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
He pursued his post-fellowship training under the auspices of Mrs Esther Wu Memorial Fund Scholarship. During his stay in Egypt, he was trained in post-cancer surgery reconstructive urology, and he then completed his training in continence care at University College London Hospitals.
Dr Kan is an active member in the field of minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of prostatic enlargement and prostate cancer. He was invited as guest speaker at different occasions in Singapore, Nepal, Mainland China and Taiwan. He has been the local Course Director of the yearly urodynamic courses held in Hong Kong. In recognition of his contribution to the urology community, Dr Kan was awarded the UAA-Youth Section Fellowship Award.
