Rainy Umbas

Prof. Rainy Umbas is a oncological-urology consultant at Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia / “Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo” General Hospital, and achieved his medical and urologist degree from the same University. He was a fellow at the Department of Urology, Radboud University, the Netherlands, and obtained his PhD degree with dissertation entitled “E-cadherin and alpha-catenin expression of prostate and bladder cancer”, promotor: Prof. Debruyne, co-promotor: Prof. Schalken. He was the Chairman of Urology Training Program (2003-2015), Chairman of the Board of Professor (2015-2019), Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, and Chairman of the Indonesian College of Urology (2011-2017). Served as consulting editor for International Journal of Urology (2002-2010), BJU International (2012-2020), Prostate International, Investigative and Clinical Urology, Asian Journal of Urology (2014-2023), and several Indonesian medical journals. He is a reviewer for Turkish Journal of Urology, World Journal of Urology, Indian Journal of Medical Research, Brazilian Journal of Urology, Urology Journal, Contemporary Clinical Trials Communications, BMC Urology, BMC Cancer, World Journal of Oncology, The Lancet Oncology, and abstract reviewer for SIU and UAA annual meetings. Had been a principal country investigator for phase 2, 3, and multinational clinical studies on new drugs for urological cancer. He served as NCCN Asia Consensus Panel member for Prostate, Kidney, and Bladder Cancer, and for several Indonesian Urological Association Guidelines. Has authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles. He was the President of Indonesian Urological Association (2000-2003), Urological Association of Asia (2006-2008), Director of Asian School of Urology (2010-2014), and currently Chairman of Indonesian Urological Association Section of Oncological Urology, Honorary Consultant for Asian School of Urology, and Elected Council Member in UAA. He is an Honorary Member of EAU, UAA, Chinese Urological Association, and recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award from Indonesian Urological Association.
