Man-Kay Li

Dr Li graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1975 and received his training at Queen Mary Hospital and also at University of South Manchester United Kingdom. He was Chief of Urology at the Department of Surgery University of Hong Kong in 1986. He moved in 1988 to Urology Department at the Singapore General Hospital where he developed the Department with the latest technologies and was appointed the inaugural Director of the Urology Centre. He was appointed Associated Professor and Chief of Urology at National University of Singapore in 1998 and was the founding Chairman of the Department of Urology in 2002 and Chief of Urology at Alexander Hospital 1998-2003. His was Head of the Renal Transplant Surgical Team in the Ministry of Health from 1996 to 2003 and a member of the Transplant Advisory Board for 18 years from 1996 to 2014. He developed training programs and policies regarding appointment of transplant surgeons in Singapore. He has published over 200 peer review papers and given over 120 invited lectures. He received Professorships from the Department of Surgery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014 and Tribhuvan University of Nepal in 2015. He received Lifetime Achievements Awards from both Singapore Urological Association in 2022 and Society of Transplant in 2023 and also Honorary Memberships from Malaysian Urological Association, Thai Urological Association, Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons and Urological Association of Asia. He served as President of the Singapore Urological Association 1999-2002, Board of Directors, Societe Internationale de Urologie, 2000-2004, President of Urological Association of Asia 2016-2017, and Honorary Executive Director of Urological Association of Asia 2018-present.
