Dr. Cheryn Song, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H. is a Professor of Urology at the University of Ulsan College of Medicine and a senior attending at Asan Medical Center and Asan Cancer Center in Seoul, Korea. With a clinical and academic focus on kidney cancer and minimally invasive urologic oncology, Dr. Song has led translational and surgical research efforts in renal tumors, particularly those involving hereditary syndromes and renal function preservation.
After completing her medical degree at Yonsei University and doctoral training in urologic oncology at the University of Ulsan, she pursued public health studies at Johns Hopkins University and a clinical research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Her career has bridged advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery with outcomes research, contributing to national databases and international collaborations.
Dr. Song currently serves as Vice President for Women Policy of the Korean Urological Association and Vice President for International Relations of the Korean Urological Oncology Society. She has played key roles in education and innovation at her institution, including curriculum leadership and surgical systems development.
An author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Song is an active member of the American Urological Association and has contributed to shaping practice patterns in renal cell carcinoma, with special attention to frail or surgically unfit populations. Her work integrates surgical precision with genomic insight, aiming to personalize kidney cancer care through multidisciplinary and data-driven approaches.
