Graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. Took Urology at the Philippine General Hospital Division of Urology, Department of Surgery. Took Pediatric Urology in the University of California, San Francisco. Started involvement with the Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric Urology (APAPU) in different capacities. Became Scientific Committee Chair for the 2009 APAPU Congress in Manila. Then joined the Executive Committee of the APAPU. In 2021, became Chair of the Department of Urology, National Kidney and Transplant Institute and 2023 appointed as Clinical Associate Professor of the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine. Elected President of APAPU in 2024.

Early identification and accurate diagnosis are essential for guiding clinical management and psychosocial support. This talk will provide an overview of the classification of DSDs, including 46,XX DSD, 46,XY DSD, and sex chromosome DSDs, and highlight key diagnostic steps such as hormonal profiling, genetic testing, and imaging studies. Common conditions such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), and gonadal dysgenesis will be discussed, with emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach involving pediatric endocrinologists, geneticists, surgeons, and psychologists. Practical considerations in gender assignment, surgical timing, and long-term follow-up will also be addressed.
