Dr. Tuan Thanh Nguyen is a urologist and kidney transplant surgeon currently practicing at Cho Ray Hospital and University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, while also serving as a lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), Vietnam. He earned his MD in 2010 and Master of Surgery in 2014, both from UMP.
He completed his urology residency training in Vietnam from 2011 to 2014, and continued his clinical training at Cochin Hospital in Paris, France from 2014 to 2015. He then pursued advanced training in robotic surgery and kidney transplantation at renowned institutions including Asan Medical Center (Korea), Penn Medicine (USA), and the University of California, Irvine (USA), where he focused on robotic surgery in urologic oncology. In 2024, he completed a fellowship in robotic kidney transplantation at Asan Medical Center.
His clinical focus is the comprehensive care of patients with urologic cancers and end-stage kidney disease, with an emphasis on minimally invasive and robotic approaches. He has authored over 40 international peer-reviewed publications (and more than 100 including Vietnamese works), and contributed to major textbooks including Robotic Urology (Springer, 2024) and The Netter Collection of Medical Illustrations: Urinary System (Elsevier, 2024).
He is actively involved in medical education, curriculum development, and research in AI-assisted 3D planning for robotic partial nephrectomy. His research interests revolve around oncologic urology and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Nguyen’s guiding principle is: “minimally invasive intervention, maximally good outcomes.” He welcomes collaboration and knowledge-sharing to advance urologic care across Asia and beyond.
