Heng-Hsin focuses on cardiovascular care, geriatrics, and nurse practitioner (NP) development that has a measurable, sustained, and current impact. These impacts were achieved through her role as a Senior Researcher at the Center for Healthy Longevity/Aging Sciences of National Chiao Tung University (NYCU) as well as multiple leadership roles in academic institutions and professional societies. Her first employment as a registered nurse (RN) was in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at National Taiwan University Hospital in 1995, right after she had graduated from Gang-Gang University. Among patients with cardiovascular health problems, the majority are older adults, and, thus, she expanded her focus to the geriatric population. Next, she had her nursing management MSN degree and family nurse practitioner training in 2000 in the United States. Then, she gain PhD degree from University of San Diego in 2007 and DNP degree from University of Pittsburgh in 2021. Between 2018-2023, she has 60 international articles with 44 first or correspondent author and served as the PI for five National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) projects, five Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW) projects, three Ministry of Education (ME) projects, and five industry-university cooperative research projects focused on these three main topics.
As to her leadership role in professional societies, she is the President of the Taiwan Association of Nurse Practitioners (TANP), and she has been involved in NP development with TANP since 2007. Notably, Heng-Hsin initiated and conducted the Asian Pacific Congress of Nurse Practitioners Congress (APCNP) on Dec.02.2023, which created a platform to share development and outcome analysis of the value of NP in different countries. The MOU will be completed in the end of December, signed by 4 countries -Taiwan, Thailand, Japen, and Australia. There are a total of 623 participants with 442 physical and 181 online participants of the APCNP hybrid international conference The first kick-off APCNP is an important giant leap for NP in Taiwan, the voice of NP in Taiwan will be heard as well as has an impact on national and international NP policy through local and international channel.
