Abstract Content
Prostatic small-cell carcinoma (SmCC) is a rare, aggressive form of prostate cancer. That accounts for 0.5-2% of all cases of prostate cancer which associated with poor clinical outcomes. This study presents three cases of Small-Cell type Cancer of Prostate. The mean age at the time of diagnosis was 55 years. Our case series highlights the importance of considering a prostate primary, even in the setting of normal prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and aberrant immunohistochemistry profile, when diagnosing a metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma in the liver. Careful correlation between the patient’s medical history, imaging and pathology findings is required. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that if small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the prostate (SCNECP) transfer to the liver, it indicates a particularly poor prognosis (OS: 7.8 months). The need for further study into therapeutic regimen for SCNECP is very important. The antiangiogenic drug, anlotinib may be useful for SCNECP. The efficacy and safety of anlotinib in the clinical treatment of SCNECP need further randomized clinical studies.
