Abstract Content
Ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD), encompassing disorders such as premature, delayed, and anejaculation, significantly affects men’s quality of life. The Male Sexual Health Questionnaire - Ejaculatory Dysfunction (MSHQ-EjD) is a widely used tool for assessing ejaculatory function. However, there is no validated Filipino version of the MSHQ-EjD, limiting accurate evaluation of EjD in the Philippines. This study aimed to translate and validate the MSHQ-EjD into Filipino to provide a culturally appropriate tool for assessing ejaculatory dysfunction among Filipino men.
The MSHQ-EjD was translated and back-translated, followed by content validation by an expert. A cross-sectional study was conducted with Filipino-speaking men diagnosed with and without EjD to assess the reliability and internal consistency of the translated questionnaire. Reliability was measured using Cronbach’s alpha.
The Filipino version of the MSHQ-EjD demonstrated acceptable internal consistency, with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.700. All items showed positive item-rest correlations, supporting the reliability of the tool for assessing ejaculatory dysfunction in Filipino men.
The validated Filipino version of the MSHQ-EjD is a reliable instrument for evaluating ejaculatory dysfunction. It can be used effectively in clinical evaluation, treatment monitoring, and epidemiologic studies in the Filipino population.
