Abstract Content
Introduction
A 41-year-old male presented with a 17-year history of pricking penile pain. Our patient suffering from penile dysesthesia who, despite multiple modalities of conservative management had persistent complaints prompting the patient to opt for a more aggressive and invasive approach. As to the authors’ knowledge, this is the first such case in the Philippines treated by this technique.
Materials and Methods
Glans Resurfacing with Split Thickness Skin Graft (STSG) was done on this patient. The comprehensive approach to the surgical procedure, coupled with thorough postoperative care and outcome assessment, highlights the precision and attention to detail involved in the management of the patient's genital dysesthesia using Glans Resurfacing with STSG.
Results
The patient's erectile function was evaluated which revealed no erectile problems following the procedure. The patient reported the resolution of pricking pain with minimal sensation to the glans, and no problems were noted during sexual activity. Long term follow-up demonstrated cosmetically acceptable outcomes and patient satisfaction with no recurrence of previous symptoms.
Conclusions
Glans Resurfacing with STSG is a transformative approach for refractory cases of genital dysesthesia, after all conservative attempts at treatment have failed. Need for further research involving more patients and a longer follow-up, to establish long-term outcomes, potential complications, and generalizability of this particular intervention.
